We offer not only family and cosmetic dentistry, but also neuromuscular dentistry. The teeth and associated structures are just a small part of the whole masticatory system, your entire bite. As an LVI graduate (Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies), Dr. Lopes considers not just your teeth and gums, but also the muscles, nerves, and ligaments of your jaw joints, and the joints themselves.
As the years go by, the dental and medical professions are discovering more and more how the health of the mouth is closely intertwined with the health of the body.
Meet Dr. Lopes
Dr. Lopes has enjoyed practicing dentistry in Sonoma since 1982. He returned to his county of birth after a childhood in Los Altos, California and then pursued his undergraduate education in Biology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Lopes obtained his Graduate Degree (DMD) from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He is a longtime member in good standing of the American Dental Association and the Sonoma Dental Association, Redwood Empire Chapter.
He attained the status of Graduate from the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in 2006. Not only did he study state-of-the-art aesthetic treatment, but also the evaluation and treatment of various bite-related diseases and their consequences. This has allowed him to alleviate certain symptoms and to help those who have had a lifetime of pain and discomfort.
Dr. Lopes has tried to help those in need throughout the years by donating his time and expertise to those associated with Hanna Boys Center and the Mentoring Alliance in Sonoma and to help them achieve good oral health. This has been a truly rewarding experience for him.

We believe that a full comprehensive exam and diagnosis is paramount to establishing a good doctor-patient relationship. We'll give you an attentive dental assessment and Dr. Lopes will listen to your concerns, make recommendations, and answer questions. We will work with you in a partnership to maintain the consistently high quality of your dental care. We'll carefully check and assess your status, treating conditions and problems, and at home, you can carefully and regularly practice good dental hygiene, brushing and flossing to remove the plaque and bacteria every day.

Dr. Lopes' wife of 23 years is a qualified interior design specialist and his son and daughter are both active in theatre and dance.
